Back Bending

  • Open Doors Yoga, Dorchester 960 Morrissy Blvd Dorchester, MA (map)
jenna-hill-urdhva-dhanurasan

Are you afraid of wheel pose?  Feel like your arms aren’t yet strong enough or it hurts your low back, and therefore, backbending is not your thing?  Then this workshop is for you.  Come learn how to backbend with ease and freedom

In this workshop students will learn the fundamental proper alignment techniques to incorporate into a variety of back bending postures.  We will go through a sequence of postures that warm up the body with emphasis on Cobra and Urdhva Mukha Savasana (upward facing dog) to help create front body stretches and cultivate awareness around the back of the heart. Then using a creative flow sequence we move toward deeper back bending postures (i.e. Locust, Camel, Bow, and Bridge and wheel) to invigorate the back followed by seated and supine twists. At the end the students will enjoy a long guided relaxation.

This workshop is not for students brand new to yoga.
